How it all began....

The story behind the bubbles started with the birth of my son. As any new mom, I wanted to have control of everything. First it was what I will give him to eat, what kind of natural cloth I will clothes him and what kind of soap will I use to bathe him. When I got to the bath time, I was perplexed. I am used to read ingrediencies for everything, and for baby soaps list is long as my arm and most of it things in it I never heard of! I kept thinking about Michael Pollan and his advice about food: "Do not eat anything your grandmother wouldn't recognize as a food." I remembered summer months when we went to visit my grandparents in their tiny village on the top of the mountain. After cooking great meal from scratch, my Granny would put big cauldron in the back yard and cook soap. Sometimes she would give me to stir. Her soap was bulky, big and thick but smelled clean and fresh and had natural pale yellow color. And it was made with my help! I was very proud and cherished time spend with my Granny.

So, I turned to the library and tried to find some books about soap making. And I found a lot! I also turned toward internet and found so many wonderful soap makers with treasure trove of recipes, advices, tutorials and community support. Between these resources I made my first solo effort soap. It was crooked, twisted and curved but smelled clean and fresh and had natural pale yellow color. I think my Granny would be proud of me.

During years I tried different recipes. As my son grow (he is 1st grader now) I adjusted recipes to make  different shapes and make fun bath time and help him get into the habit of washing hands and body. I use spices and infused oils to add color and scent and sometimes I add essential or fragrance oils. But my soaps are always handmade, with no preservatives, no chemicals, no additives and for the Sweet Bubbles Collection for kids no scent. I want to keep it as natural as possible.

Making soap is fun and rewording process. the most beautiful thing for me is that every single soap is unique. They are not perfect or identical because they are not industrialized. Each one is made with love and care and each one have their own personality. They are unrepeatable and exclusive.
